Having moved to the south coast in 2018, we now cover the south coast around Lymington including Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole and Winchester but we can and do work further afield on occasion. Our practise began life back in 2005 in Kingston upon Thames and many of the gardens we have created are in the south west of London.

Commissioning a garden designer can seem confusing, we hope to eliminate the confusion and make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.

Please have a read of the Process section to find out more information and to see if you think an initial garden consultation could be the best first step on your garden design journey.

Elements Garden Design is a small independent garden design practise based in Lymington, Hampshire headed up by award winning designer Lawrence Roberts. We embrace enquiries of all sizes be it a small city or suburban garden, a roof terrace or a large country garden - nothing is too small or too large. We take pride in our ability to create beautiful and inventive gardens that are tailor made to your taste, needs and requirements.

Our services range from initial garden consultations, to planting plans, lighting plans and full garden design packages. We are able to assist with all aspects of garden design and are available to do as much or as little as you require. We are also proud to be transparent with our fees, taking the mystery and unknown out of garden design and making it open and inclusive. See our Process page for more details.

Inspire, Create, Nurture
— Elements Garden Design

Lawrence has a BSc in Horticulture from Writtle University Sector College and is a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, but more importantly plants and gardens are his love and passion. Lawrence first got the gardening itch when his parents handed over their garden to him age 9 and he was giving free rein to experiment and create. It wasn’t pretty at first!

He has worked with many growers, garden designers and architects over the years, before deciding to take the plunge and set up his own practise in 2005, building the gardens that he had designed. Lawrence is never happier than went planning the layout of a new garden in his home studio or when on site getting his hands dirty and getting plants in the ground.

Hampton Court Garden Festival 2019

with William Roobrouck - Belgian sculptor

Lawrence’s garden at Hampton Court Flower Show in 2018 received the prestigious RHS Silver Gilt award for excellence. The garden featured a large 3m diameter corten steel sphere representing a fallen meteor. In 2019 Lawrence returned to the Hampton Court Garden Festival together again with the sculptor William Roobrouck and their garden received a Silver award for excellence. The sculpture used in the garden, a large 3 metre steel head in which you can enter, is now on show at the world renowned RHS Wisley Gardens in Weybridge.
