‘Art and design have followed me all my life and after college and a few years travelling, I enrolled at Writtle College in Essex to study an HND in Garden Design. Three years later I graduated with a degree in Horticulture with an emphasis in garden design and construction. After working in numerous plant nurseries and assisting on a number of show gardens I finally took the plunge and set up my own gardening enterprise called Elements Garden Design in 2005.’
‘From an early age I've had an innate love for nature and gardening. One of my earliest memories is being alone in the family garden with our dog just digging in the dirt and rummaging in the flower beds, probably to the horror of my parents. My Dad was a cartoonist who worked largely from home in a garden studio and wrote a strip cartoon for a national newspaper based on me and my sisters as children. In the cartoon I am often featured covered in mud carrying boxes of bugs and worms, a friendly robin by my side.’
Elements Garden Design has remained a small practise and we welcome enquiries of all sizes from city and suburban gardens, to roof terraces and country gardens. We offer a design only service through to full creation and implementation.
We also carry out a full aftercare service and have many of the gardens we have built on our books.
Lawrence has a BSc in Horticulture from Writtle University Sector College and is a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers.
